The Honorable Gilberto Teodoro Jr. has been sworn in as the Secretary of National Defense on the 7th of August 2007.

Teodoro is a three-term member of the House of representatives. He is the son of former social security administrator Gilberto C. Teodoro and former assemblywoman Mercedes Teodoro, the younger sister of Eduardo "Danding" Cojuanco.

Gilbert was a top-nother barrister after he took up law at the University of the Philippines. He has a master's degree from Harvard and a commerce degree from the De La Salle University.

He is married to Monica Loiuse Prieto Teodoro, a congresswoman for the 1st district of Tarlac.
